Detour taken
Last week, we both needed a rest after all the hard work we've been doing. We took 3 days to unwind and rest up. Then, Tessa had this grand idea to renovate the yellow room into a Woofer (WWOOF) cabin.
World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms:
Driving home we always see lots of animals, usually perched high up in the hills, or inside the fences, but in this case they were being moved to another field.

People tend to say I work quickly, until they see Tessa turning one of her visions into reality. She gently removed the spiders and their webs, then proceeded to paint the walls and mop the floor. Once the space was clean, I removed a wall panel and tied into an existing 16A wire for powering the stove and some extra sockets for convenience. We're on the lookout for a bar fridge for under the counter. Mark, at the architectural salvage in town has lovely round stainless steel sinks for $30, and we reused a tap from a sink that is no longer needed along side the carport. The sink was plumbed using this amazing flex pipe they use out here that presses into quick connects. We spent less than $200 with used appliances, a small run of wire, some outlets, a used stove $50, the $30 sink and about $30-40 in plumbing and the room is ready for a woofer to help out around the property. The way it works is the woofer stays for free in usually a room without any kitchen and is expected to work 4 hours a day in exchange for knowledge, and room and board with weekends off. One day there will be a communal bathroom and this will be able to be rented as a cabin. There are many people seeking a simple life out here living in caravan's similar to Stella in Oceanside, yet, Airstreams are rare in Australia and claim top dollar. However, the cabin will make someone a happy home.
I also posted a few photos of a friend's community property showing some of the fruit growing on the trees and the gorgeous views of his land and his new tree house in its beginnings.

After a day and a half of work, Spud is finally able to claim the shack.
We found the bed frame on the road and painted it blue using old paint that was here.
The table is also a found item picked up off the road. The counters were here, although we did a little adjusting. We found the wall art and painted the existing shelving unit blue. Tessa had the rugs and pillows, most of which she recovered. The stove was bid on at the Tender Center. The room is about 8'6" by 16" which is larger than a caravan and has many windows looking out at the greenery just feet from the creek.
