Married life
After getting married, Tessa and I decided to take try and take it easier than the pace we were running at for the past 7 months. We were both tired from all the hard work and also noticed some paint VOC's that were getting us down. We've been building fires, and running electric heaters in the main house to help cure the floors. Last night we hung blankets in the hallway and opened the oven too. It must have been 85 degrees in the house for 5 hours straight. Today the only smell is smoke fumes from the fire, so we're one step closer. We're starting to see the value in paying for eco-friendly, non-toxic paint. I think we'll run over to Painted Earth in Byron and get some ceiling paint since it look like a spiderweb highway, especially in the kitchen. I doubt the previous owners ever painted the ceiling, and if they did, it was many years ago.
My 1971 VW Sportsmobile is on Australian shores, getting a vehicle valuation today. I'm hoping to be reunited with my personal effects (gear) and my beloved Kombi sometime this week. Floyd (VW) will be an excellent resource for camping, as well as building, and just getting around town in a rush free way since these vans were designed to be fuel efficient and simple to maintain for minimal cost. Last night we watched:
Unloading the heavy kiln out of LoAce, into the art studio. You'll notice the board in front to keep the kiln steady, as I climb into the van and lift the kiln vertical. This is a very large and heavy kiln that will work for a variety of needs, and it is in good "nic" as they say down under, meaning good condition.

Summer of (family) love: tiny home VW-roadtrip documentary
which we both enjoyed and made me even more excited to have Floyd here to do some travels in, soon.
We cruised up the Gold Coast to a pottery studio and purchased a large kiln, which I'd love to use for annealing glass one day. The seller, gave us a sweet deal at $50.00, although the controller is acting up. I have some friends in Oregon who can sell the parts to build a new one for minimal cost.
The next blog entry should have photos of Floyd at Coolamon! Exciting!
Oh, yeah...I should comment on my post title, that Tessa and I are noticing some changes after getting married, mostly a kind of settling in with the notion that we've found what we were looking for, and now we can relax and get involved in many of the other aspects of life we've always desired having more time to do. Life is good~
Another shot of the art studio where we sleep under the mozzy net. Although I have yet to see a mosquito, it is kind of fun sleeping inside the netting and reminds me of a gypsy wagon. We're in Fall in May, so the pecans fell off the tree above, and now, the leaves. I just hooked up the lights at the front door, and Tessa hung some fairy lights she bought for $5 at a garage sale.
