New times
It's been a while since posted. I had some details to tend to, and now feel like the air is clear and I will continue where my blog tapered off.
To start, today is my Dad's birthday, so it seems appropriate to begin here. He passed away a couple weeks after his birthday last year. He is certainly missed, yet there is more peace knowing he is not suffering and watching the days slowly go by.
I found a car that I know he would have loved to go for a ride in. After all, he and I tinkered and restored many classic vehicles together. I vividly recall purchasing my first yellow convertible Karmann Ghia with him. He was very supportive of this hobby, so it wasn't uncommon to have multiple vehicles at our suburban residence at one time.
I went to see if the ad was a hoax or not last weekend since the ad was a little too good to be true, stating this 1974 Karmann Ghia had less than 3000 miles on it. After seeing the vehicle, there was no question about it. I left a large cash deposit, took off Friday from work and picked up a rental truck to tow it back and deliver the balance. The car is now registered and shockingly attracts an immense amount of attention. It is truly a blast from the past, as people are stunned to see the condition of something 42 years old, yet so iconic in its Ravena Green original paint with chrome and aluminum embellishments throughout. The first day out a lady asked to take a photo of it, and two other separate parties made comments. I've had quite a few classics, but this color seems so befitting of this era and model that something just clicks.
Off to ride the bike at the beach on this gorgeous sunny day. More details on the times between my water fast and spring 2016, or so it seems in Southern California.
