Pushing thru!

I Remember when I was about 15 or 16 and I had to crawl underneath my VW and tap on the starter to get it to turn over. So that’s what the culprit was the first time it didn’t start and this time I was prepared with a jack and so I tapped on the starter to no avail. and I put my fingers on all the terminals. I felt like they were pretty well connected, but there could be corrosion. But then I tapped on the solenoid after trying the starter one other time and failing, and so I think it was the solenoid cause after that tap it did start up. so that was only like a five minute hold up and now I feel much better knowing that I should probably just grab a starter along the way. But it could just be something even simpler so I will get one if there’s one in stock tomorrow. Just in case! And the reason I would rather have a starter than not is because in a VW you just push started no problem. But a Porsche engine cost about $40,000 if you mess it up. And push starting a car is not a healthy habit to have and then once you do it once you might as well do it again and then again and again it’s just a matter of time before something goes haywire. So I am about two hours from my buddy, Robbie‘s house in SLC. I have enough gas to get there so I don’t have to stop or turn the car off again until I’m at his house where we’re gonna have dinner and catch up. so that’s kind of a relief too just because once it gets dark, it’s better to be off the road and relaxing with a good friend for the first time in a few days since I’ve pushed hard through some of these nights into the morning hours, after taking scenic routes in the day that slowed me down a little. but all in all, I’m still very excited and very happy and pleased since the car is running like brand new and all of these statistics on the gauges are staying consistent and it barely used any oil after not being used in so long so I would say it has a clean bill of health. And that’s what really matters besides the originality the original paint no real accidents or any defects. And I guess that’s kind of why I made that video because when you start out on this journey, you don’t really know what to expect and all you can do is hope for the best and as Bob said you’ll know this car really well by the time you get back and he’s definitely right!
