Today the 18th of May
today i was lying in bed having the most amazing time in dreamland, a place i've always been fond of. my friends never know when they can call since i'm a chronic napper. so i decided since progress has been slow on the church, and the other day i dreamed until 1/130 pm, i better get up and get a move on :). i love having full freedom on a daily basis, doing something i love, which is where i am at present.
so today, i decided i was going to cut a hole in this 120 year old church. this notion of seeing the light of day from the loft, a space already celebrated from the internal view, just opened up new horizons in all directions. after being in this building on many occasions since 9/2004, i have always had complete privacy since the only windows are textured gothic windows in hues of violet and yellow. therefore, entering the church is like going into your own personal world and shutting out the rest of the world with a close of the door. a wonderful place, however when you are new in town and do not have many visitors, this confined space full of building materials at present can be suppressive as well.
the window seemed to exhaust not only the hot air in the loft, but the closure from the outside world as was known. i now have a chair placed behind the 2'x5' opening wooden window with a wonderful view of the many old growth evergreens thriving on the steep slope below the church. i always wanted to have a perch out below the location of the window, so I could still have my privacy above all my neighbors, and be outside. i might still pursue this option once i have the rest of my many tasks in order.
later in the day i had a visitor that i recently met at he and his partner's garage sale. a very nice jack of all trades fellow into the arts, sustainable culture, health....etc. and i'm sure much more after i get to know him better. turns out steve used to own the 1o1 diner in encinitas, has had a sculpture business, and was president of the an arts org. his partner is an avid surfer, so we plan on hitting the coast as soon as they return from their trip east. they just bought some acreage on the bay road and plan on building a monolithic dome or a yurt to start with. his vw bug is biodiesel! very cool guys to know!
i made an amazing veggie salad with long grain organic brown rice for dinner and took a nice relaxing jaccuzi tub bath later tonight.
i also chatted with botanicus about mike doyle and his writings about doing what you want and finding a way to make it work, versus working for life to save up and get there. i used to be of the old paradigm of trying to make a self supporting system so i could do art. i've finally realized many times over that without living a truly passionate life about what you love most in this world, you are selling yourself short of being who you really desire to be. so on with the program...there is no remote control.
was a wonderful day...and now eve. the place keeps looking better and soon i will be finished with the bulk and onto the crux. going to harold loftin's in logsden this saturday at 10 to meet him and hopefully make some amazing glass art with this old blower. he's 78 and still puffing out glass bubbles into forms. you know you love what you do if your still making forms at 78!
night~
