Christmas Week

Even in the middle of the summer when Christmas arrives in Australia, things slow down a bit.  I always thought it had to do with the winter chills while living in the states.  Now I'm realizing everyone takes time out for festivities, possibly some shopping, and of course, celebrating the holidays.

We've spent the last month tidying up the interior of the shed.  The ceiling is 98% finished with only minor pieces of corner molding needing installation.  We've moved on to the bathroom, where we installed some scrap hardibacker in preparation for more apple green wall tile.  Once the wall tiles are up, we'll install the floor tiles.

We've also been removing soil from around the building and looking into proper drainage since the rain comes down in sheets, and can dump a few inches in hours.  Prior to installing the wood floor, we want to be sure the drainage systems are all in good working order.

Yesterday I modified an old tow bar and welded it to Floyd's bumper brackets.  The ball and tongue connect to the center of the bracket shown, and the bumper works as a shroud to cover the structure of the tow bar.  Now we can bring fruit trees, mulch and other landscaping products to the property without messing up the inside of our cherished camper.

Today we've decided to take a rest day together to enjoy the fruits of our labors around the property.

We're wishing everyone a joyful holiday with family, and friends.  See you next year!

You can see the trench next to the slab, and the framework of a clear PC roof we have yet to install to keep water away from the back of the shed.

Tessa has been planting many starters that are destined to go into a new area we are creating that will protect the vulnerable young plants from animals with fencing.

More digging on this side of the building to direct flow around the back.  You'll notice one of the drainage pipes in the upper left of the photo.  There are a few of these as well as roofs with no gutters that need repair to keep water from splashing and help direct it away from the building.

We removed the toilet and the sink and will tiles this area and finish it with shelves and cabinets for storage.

The tow bar is in place, prior to installing the bumper or the ball and tongue.

Happy Holidays!
