Yesterday was my first day to rent time from a glass studio. I had an amazing time and created these 3 pieces at Harold's. This morning I stopped by Donald Carlson's on my way to pick up yesterday's work. I've never seen anyone who has a better grasp of the medium in action than Donald. He's been blowing for over 50 years, and know's his stuff! He has the stock ticker and NPR in the background and his wife Karen brings him puntil's as well as starts the process. Donald hardly ever touches the glass unless necessary. This way, he has longer work times and less tool marks. He also has a furnace that allows him access to colors as well as clear which is important when time is of the essence. Donald and Karen are both amazing people that do good for the community in many ways. Tomorrow is a new day at Harold's and I'm planning on trying out the techniques Donald showed me.
